Hi and thanks for letting me join your community. I have been a long time gnome user and think it's wonderful. This is my first post however.
I am currently running gnome 2.28.0 and having problems with the gnome-power-manager. I have tried to fix it and googled around for the same problem but no one seems to know how to fix it. This same distro I use is installed on two other computers that do not experience the same problem; however the other two where updated rather then freshly installed like this one.
First My specs:
Acer Aspire One D250
OS: Sabayon - Gentoo Linux
These links have my system specs and informations to help troubleshoot on it but will expire in about 28 days.
xsession: http://www.sabayonlinux.org/pastie/2626
Dmesg: http://www.sabayonlinux.org/pastie/2627

Hardware info: http://www.sabayonlinux.org/pastie/2630
Gnome-Power-Manager verbose output: http://forum.sabayonlinux.org/download/file.php?id=632
Please alert me if you need more logs/info with instructions please.
Second The issue: Gnome-Power-manager places the computer into standby while the computer is in use; it also places the computer into standby with the lid open and unplugging the cord. I noticed there is some kind of refresh rate on the power and when the timer for the refresh rate triggers the powercord off the unit goes into standby as well. Also If I brring the computer out of standby and plug in the AC adapter the same result occurs. I don't know much about how the power system works but I have a thought that it has something to do with my systems ACPI. Whatever that is.
Third My temporary fix: I found by removing gnome-power-manager the system does not go into standby while using the computer, I can unplug my cord without the computer going into standby as well. Doing this however causes errors to come up when shutting the computer down, as well as certain gnome applications to not work.
Thank you for taking your time to read this and I appreciate the help in advance. |
